Joseph Ilebode (Managing Director)


Mr. Ilebode started his career with Deloitte UK as a technology advisory consultant. The commercial experience from Deloitte along with a project management role at Arsencia Ltd. helped him to become Business Development Executive at Imperative Group. During his time at Imperative Mr. Ilebode developed the Oil & Gas services, which has served many clients in Nigeria and Ghana.


Mr. Ilebode has facilitated trades with clients in the West African markets, including some approved importers with PPPRA and NPA licenses. His commitment to socio-economic progress has involved youth mentoring programs both in UK and Nigeria.


Mr. Ilebode holds a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering & Technology from the prestigious Imperial College, London. He has also completed Entrepreneurship and Financial Management programs at Imperial College Business School. He is a recipient of BP Award for Institutional Excellence and a member of iChemE.



Tomi Okpaise (Director, Business Development & Origination)


Tomi is responsible for business development, strategy and origination at JEDA Energy. Tomi previously facilitated numerous downstream trades within West African as an independent consultant. Tomi has also held various London-based derivative and commodity derivative broking positions in addition to a brief stint as a student actuary.


Tomi holds a Masters degree in Energy, Trade & Finance from Cass Business School and a Bachelor's degree in Management and Mathematics from Sheffield University. Tomi also has certification in Investment Management from the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute UK, Financial and Commodities Derivatives certification from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI) as well as certification from the Oxford-Princeton Energy training institute.



Szofia Rahman (Finance & Compliance Manager)


Szofia is our Finance and Compliance Manager who meticulously manages work project-by-project. She studied Business Administration at Kingston Maurward College and later pursued further education in International Trade Finance at The London Institute of Banking and Finance, where she obtained certification as a member.


In addition to her extensive background, Szofia also oversees the KYC (Know Your Customer) process diligently, ensuring that new suppliers and counterparties are onboarded in accordance with the latest international standards.


Her prior experience includes successfully supporting and managing projects for esteemed corporate business consultancies and iconic brands worldwide, including Shell, BP, Lego, Henkel, Michelin, among others. Szofia collaborates closely with the Finance Director and Financial Controller to achieve our organizational objectives.

Obed Kojo Assensoh (Commercial Director)


Obed is an alumni of University of Ghana where he obtained 1st Degree in Bachelor of Arts (BA), also had his 2nd Degree from London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) in Global MBA with specialization in Contemporary Issues in Oil, Gas & Energy (CIOGE) and Entrepreneurship & Carbon Management (CME).


Obed is an astute corporate and investment banker with over ten years banking experience within retail, Commercial and Corporate Banking.
Obed started his professional career at Standard Chartered Bank as Associate Relationship Manager within the Origination & Client Coverage department (OCC), supporting in the management of Multinational clients. He then moved to First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) formerly International Commercial Bank as Team Lead in charge of Oil & Gas and Construction portfolio within Corporate Banking. He further moved to First Atlantic Bank as Team Lead, Tema Region. Ended his banking career at First Atlantic Bank as Branch Manager, managing the Tema Community 1 branch in 2018.


Obed brings on board wealth of experience in financial structuring and advisory, business origination, portfolio analysis, superior service delivery with good appreciation of corporate governance.



Dr Joseph Nana Osei Owusu (Group Financial Controller)


Joseph Nana Osei Owusu experience in management extends over thirteen years as he had progressed from lower level roles such as Fixed Assets Accountant, Financial Accountant and Management Accountant before his last role as Financial Controller of Vivo Energy Ghana Ltd (formerly Shell Ghana Ltd), a subsidiary of the Vivo Energy Group.


He has working experience in Capital investments, credit control, budgeting, financial management, project management, treasury, business development, Corporate governance and HSSE ) from a complex Oil Market Company with multi-national subsidiaries and a broad array of product offerings. He has experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies. He has an MBA in Finance, ACMA, CGMA, ICA (GH).



Sara Quartey (Trader)


Sara, our WAF Trader, covers our export flow of Crude and NGLs and fills our shorts in the sub-region.
She previously worked in Ghana’s downstream market with over 10 years work experience at a couple of Bulk Distribution Companies. She started with marketing but ultimately evolved into a trading role.


She holds a Bsc. in Business Administration, Banking, and Finance major, and an Msc. in International Management, Oil and Gas Specialisation from the University of Liverpool. She also has certifications in International Oil Supply, Transportation, Refining & Trading as well as Overview of the Global LPG Market from Mennta Energy Solutions.

Harold Aninye (Country Manager, Nigeria)


Harold's professional experience spans over 16 years across various sectors, including Banking, Telecoms, Oil and Gas and Shipping, providing him with a broad perspective and insight into different industry dynamics and market trends.


He obtained a B.Sc. in Business Administration majoring in finance from the University of Benin and a Master's degree in Shipping, Trade and Finance from the prestigious Bayes Business School(formerly Cass Business School).

Prior to joining JEDA Energy, he held senior leadership positions, leading cross-functional teams and driving business transformation initiatives.


He is responsible for business development, strategy and origination in Nigeria. His strategic vision, expertise and commitment to excellence positions JEDA Nigeria for continued success and sustainable growth.



Michael Akoh ( MICS) (Group Operations Manager)


Mr Akoh is the group operations manager at JEDA Energy. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics and masters in transport planning & management from the University of Lagos.
A chartered shipbroker with over 15 years of industry experience and proven track records of guiding numerous successful tanker operations across the globe. His area of expertise includes operations management, shipping, import/export documentation and general logistics.


Attended Oxford Princeton Energy training institute in the UK and other shipping and logistics courses in Germany, Italy, Greece and USA in addition to membership of IOD Nigeria and the institute of export and international trade UK.



Buckuola Salami-Djima (Trade Operator)


Buckuola Salami-Djima is an ambitious and self-motivated individual with a longstanding enthusiasm for her profession. Fluent in both English and French, she brings valuable linguistic skills to her role at JEDA. Holding a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology from the University of Ghana, she has furthered her expertise with certifications from Mennta Energy Solutions, specializing in Overview of Physical Oil Operations and International Trading Operations Practice.


Beginning her professional journey in operations support, Buckuola's dedication and perseverance have propelled her to now collaborate closely with the trade and operations team.




JDA Energy Pte Ltd, Singapore, is established with the spirit of the Bandung Conference in 1955, which was updated with NAASP (New Asian-African Strategic Partnership).

The ninth of the 10-point declaration of the 1955 Conference is “Promotion of Mutual Interest and Cooperation”, which is the base of the cooperation between JDA Energy Nigeria and Banyubang Group of Indonesia.


African crude oil in general and Nigerian crude oil specifically, have been a reliable raw material for Asian refineries for long. However, there has been very little direct cooperation.
JDA Energy Pte Ltd Singapore would like to promote a more closer and balance cooperation in the trade of crude oil and refined products.



Theodor Georgiev (Head of Business, Asia)


Theo is responsible for business development, strategy and origination at JEDA Energy in Asia.


He holds a BSc in Economics from Royal Holloway and a MSc in Economics from Exeter University. After graduation he worked in Energy research for IHS Global Insights before moving into oil trading. Initially with Chevron and then with BP where he held various roles across Risk and Asset Optimisation in both London and Singapore.



John Apea (Director)


John is a Ghanaian entrepreneur with investments and interests across the fields of Energy, Media and Construction landscape. He is a graduate of the Schools of Social Sciences of University of York and the University of Oxford in the U.K.


Presently, he serves as a Head of the Royal Commonwealth Society of Africa. Prior to that, Mr. Apea held a senior position with the UK Cabinet Office, where he worked with Government Ministers, Mayors and Parliamentarians.




David Siaw Jieming (Director)


David graduated Summa Cum Laude (i.e. First Class Honours) from Singapore Management University with a Double Degree in Bachelor of Accountancy and Bachelor of Business Management. He begun his professional career with KPMG, then Ernst & Young, and after which had several years of banking experience at Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation.


Apart from his appointment at JDA Energy, he runs his own professional service firm in Singapore which provides accounting, fund raising and investment management services.
